Bong Mu Residential Complex

The Bong Mu Residential Complex is a proposal for a high-end housing development located in the Fashion Valley section of Daegu, the third largest city in South Korea. To achieve a diverse architectural vision for the complex, the client divided the site into ten parcels and invited a group of international architects, including Shigeru Ban, David Chipperfield, Ricardo Legorreta, Jean Wilmotte and Apicella + Bunton, to design a series of a unique apartment buildings and single family homes.

The buildings are arranged in a radial configuration allowing for views to both the mountains and the city. The plan of each structure is composed of overlapping rectangular shapes, a form inspired by the region’s traditional folded screens.
