46 Hillhouse

New Haven, CT

The Skinner Trowbridge House is located on historic Hillhouse Avenue on the campus of Yale University. Built as a two story single family residence in 1839, it was designed by the architectural firm, Town and Davis, in the Greek revival style. Apicella + Bunton Architects renovated the interior to become one of four buildings on Hillhouse Avenue that support the Jackson School of Global Affairs at Yale University.

New furniture and finishes brighten and modernize offices, lounges and support spaces for faculty, staff and postdoctoral researchers of the Jackson School. The grand central staircase, along with other original architectural details, was thoughtfully refurbished and preserved, celebrating the building’s rich character and craftsmanship while honoring its storied past.
