Peterson Performance Center
The University of New Haven’s new Peterson Performance Center is home of the Charger football team and stands prominently as the focal point of its north campus. The center provides a critical component in the ascent of UNH athletics to one of the premier programs in the region.
Overlooking the training space below, a second floor mezzanine features a sports medicine suite with hydrotherapy tubs, dedicated spaces for performance evaluation, recovery, and physical therapy. A full array of cardio equipment rounds out the space, all designed to support student athletes and power the University’s commitment to peak performance, health and holistic wellness.
Exposed structural elements and robust, utilitarian materials – both inside and out – underscore the program’s functional character. The double-height training room is infused with natural light, gently filtered through the facade’s exterior fins and ceramic-fritted insulating glass.
With 20 state-of-the-art power racks, a 60-yard performance training turf, and bold displays of UNH branding and colors, the facility becomes a vibrant arena where athletes push their limits, cultivate team spirit and train with purpose toward success.
