Aronoff Center for the Arts
Designed to anchor a new entertainment district in downtown Cincinnati, the Aronoff Center for the Arts has three theaters: the 2700-seat Procter & Gamble Hall, the 440-seat Jarson-Kaplan Theater and the 150-seat Fifth Third Bank Theater. It is the home of Cincinnati’s Broadway series and accommodates regional and touring performance groups.
The Center’s programmatic spaces are delineated by their architectural character with performance spaces possessing a civic scale and all other spaces being contained within a metal-frame grid with stone and glass infill panels. A colonnade ties the composition together at the base. Within the colonnade are elements that enrich the sidewalk such as lobby entrances, restaurants, retail shops and staff entrances. The Aronoff Center for the Arts has received several awards including the 1996 Honor Award from the United States Institute for Theatre Technology as well as the 1996 Cincinnati Design Award and the 1997 Connecticut Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects.
